azure eagle flights canceled!!!!!!!!!

The chopper fell. Due to lack of cash, the company Aigle Azur, the second largest French air carrier in terms of traffic, stops its flights this Friday evening at 23 h 59. The activity is no longer possible, because the suppliers require to be paid in cash or by immediate bank transfer. This is particularly the case with fuel with full of the order of 10 000 euros payable "at the bottom of the truck".

An airplane has already been blocked in Algiers, with nearly 200 passengers. The other service providers, particularly those responsible for cleaning planes, catering, and accompaniment on the runway, no longer provide credit. And there are four days left for a buyer to declare himself in the commercial court.

Algeria
On its website, the company Aigle Azur indicates which flights are maintained today and what steps to perform "to declare his claim". The most vulnerable passengers are those who bought a "dry flight", a plane ticket directly on the Aigle Azur website. However, reimbursement insurances are associated with the payment with certain bank cards. A purchase at a travel agency can be protected, because they have fifteen days to be reimbursed. The funds pass through the BSP, a compensation fund of IATA, the international association of air carriers, which pays the company after this period. Often travel agencies make a commercial gesture if automatic repayment is not possible.

When the tickets have been sold as part of a package tour, the tickets are refunded by the service provider, the travel agency or the tour operator. This is the most favorable case, but which concerns little Algeria where tourist trips are rare. In addition, for tickets issued in Algeria, the BSP does not exist and the local exchange control slows the return of revenue to France. Some estimates point to 15 million euros blocked in Algeria. Air France offers special rates for stranded passengers as well as ASL Airlines serving Algiers and Oran.

A strong responsibility of the French administration is engaged, because this one, through the General Directorate of the civil aviation, followed day by day the financial situation of Aigle Azur. It did not intervene when the president Frantz Yvelin deceived the aeronautical community by announcing 25 million euros of cash. Last month's audits showed that it was missing 38 million euros.

Above all a debt of 40 million additional euros is added when, in two years, the planes had to leave leasing and be returned to their owners. Indeed, the operation of an aircraft requires to provision after each hour of flight the amount of revisions of the aircraft and engines to come. Due to lack of cash, these provisions have never been realized. Also the communiqué issued by the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition represents a monument of hypocrisy.

For the 1,150 employees of Aigle Azur, the situation is difficult, but not really dramatic. Fortunately, air transport is experiencing a period of growth and is recruiting all-out. A number of pilots, hostesses, ground staff, commercial pro-rated aircraft will be required to transport the million passengers who flew with Aigle Azur. Certainly, changes are expected like working in Roissy-CDG, in the province or abroad instead of Orly. The sailors will have to comply with the rules perhaps more restrictive of the companies like the low cost, which recruit.

The 10,000 Orly slots, for lack of buyer, will be donated to the joint pot managed by a joint body, the Cohor (association for coordination schedules). But these slots are double-edged because, once reassigned, they must be exploited by the company. This is not a problem for carriers like the growing Caribbean Air, but it can be a burden for others who can not afford it or the network.

With the exception of an A320 owned (but leased to TAP Air Portugal), Airbus Aigle Azur are rented. This fleet will be grounded in Orly. But the renters will try to find a taker, which must be quite easy with the global short-haul deficit created by the shutdown of the Boeing 737 MAX. In the meantime, the aircraft could go to the provinces in Châteauroux or Tarbes-Lourdes, aerodromes that can store and taxes lower than Orly.
